The "dog" Lead

The doggy lead, nope I'm not writing about the lovely dog leads you get for your precious pooch, I'm speaking about the child leads.

I typed in 'child dog lead' to google the fifth picture that came up was this
I then typed in child lead and pictures like this came up

And I'm well aware you can get them in a wide range of characters and animals, because oh yes that hides the fact you have your child on a leash.

Encase you haven't gathered already I'm not a fan of the child lead I just think it's awful to see, can you not just teach your child to hold your hand?  You can put down your placards and pens before you start writing up your signs to protest outside my house.  I have two bolt'ers and they've both laid out on the footpath and rolled around kicking and screaming, Mini miss is a particular fan off this one be it shops, footpaths, floors she's not fussy.  But! I just can not bring myself to put a lead on my child, if people want to stare while the child screams blue murder on the street so be it.  The made dash however is a triggy one; A full bus of American tourist gasped in utter horror as a three year old Little red head bolted out on to a road and yes I'll admitted it he was dame lucky, but honestly no dog sorry child lead was going to stop him sheer will and strength and an open door in a teddy shop and he was gone.

It takes a while for a child to learn that they just have to hold your hand and not wander of run off and putting a lead on is only holding off the inevitable you are going to have to teach them safety at some stage.  I will agree with one knowledgeable friend of mine that on the likes of a busy festival day where you know your child is going to wander,  and they will not sit in a buggy then maybe a lead is neccassary, but it pains me to right this believe me.

What sparked me to write this is the over use of the dog opps again child lead or "child safety
harness".  On one of our lovely sunny days last week I was on the beach it was far from busy I could have counted the number people on the beach and the tide was barely visible.  While my two baba's ran free playing in the sand and just general playing like a two and four year old do along came a Dad and a little boy just under 2 years old.  This poor little boy was on a lead now I missed the sign that said 'please keep children on lead at all times',  the child and Daddy wander around and the boy walked alongside his Dad.  It just annoyed me so much why did that child have to be tied to a lead instead of running free there was no dangers around, it looked to me like laziness.  Maybe I'm judging but I just didn't see the need.

So let the children free, leave the leads at home!!

Egg on My Face

"Some times Mammy does know best";  NO no don't stop reading this isn't a oh to the advice on motherhood post but a little insight into me and my own Mammy.

We were out for a lovely walk with the two baba's on the beach in Enniscrone and into Maple Moose for yummie ice cream and of course a quick visit to see our Grandad.

On the way home hubby rang, while we were pulled over chatting to my auntie.  Now here is where naive me comes into play.  I ask hubby how was his day told him we'll be home soon and I then think 'ah no I don't need to tell him to put on dinner', mistake number one!  I finish phone call to hubby say our good byes to auntie and off we go on our ten minuet journey to home.

As we near town little red head mentions he's feeling sick so we slow down a little and my mammy says to I drop her off at shop so she can purchase the essentials for her hubby.  Here comes naive act number two, from one wife to another myself and mam get into a little chat about men and how they have it easy.  My mammy mentions how my hubby is prob asleep on sofa I say " oh no he is probably cooking the dinner or cleaning up something, he's not like Dad"!  (Mam just smiles, and polishes the egg)

After dropping my Mammy off at shop and little red head also went with his Nana as he'd had enough of the car.  I heading home with my big happy head, naive act number three, expecting my Mary Poppins husband at home.  What do I find; a peaceful sleeping hubby, oh well the red haired temper came on show!

Splat egg on my face!
Some times Mammy does know best,
 no matter your age!

Cinderella - Boobies & Bulges

Bringing out my inner princess but boring the little prince and princess's we had with us, unfortunately the new Cinderella movie was only a hit with Mammy's!  A week ago myself and three other mothers headed to the cinema with our four year old's; three girls and one boy, the prince among the princesses.
I can't give a review from the children as they just weren't interested in it my one (the boy) sat through it all but when we came homeI asked on two occasions what was your favourite part of the film "none of it" and the girls just weren't interested,it was so far from the Cinderella I knew and loved.

Animated Cinderella
Cinderella 2015

On the left the Cinderella I recall, (I'm showing my age now),and on the right the new "re-life Cinderella.

Before writing this piece I would have said the cartoon version of Cinderella had a bigger waist but as you can see in the above pictures and as typical to a Disney princesses I would be wrong.  But it's scary that in the real life poster Cinderella is just as skinny as the cartoon version.  What kind of message is this sending to the children that are watching the film.  Ok so the children that I and my friends brought to see the film weren't to interested but they still seen the image, to them the image on the right is now their childhood image of Cinderella.
The size of Cinderella's waist in the movie has caused some controversy and the actress did actively strive to achieve this waist with corset training and liquid diet! This is so wrong on so many levels, yet the actress defends the actions, Lily James (cinderella) interview .  Ms James totally contradicts herself in her interview and please don't go "oh it was for the art",  she says "natural" beauty then why send the message that a princess looks like this, she should have just been herself in the dresses. Look at her if she believes what she's says no corset is needed, grrrrrr this just maddens me, the young people watching this movie are so impressionable.
You may also note in the pictures above that Cinderella's boobies are quiet ample and they were like this all the way through the movie,  this may answer why some Dad's came home saying 'yes the movie wasn't so bad'!  Fear not though there was something for the Mammies, lots of bulges in all the right places oh yes you couldn't help but miss them,  here see for yourself . . .

Boobies and bulges were every were entirely unnecessary for a Disney movie but on a whole the costumes were amazing.  The evil step mother, (Cate Blanchette) and step sisters, (Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger), were my favorite as they had a running theme through out the film and the details and accessories were to point every time. The step sisters themselves were also very funny but as you may note they aren't plump as I recall them being in the original.  I'm not promoting obesity but why the tiny waist can they not just be a normal healthy size, but to be fair I was looking more at their "wonderful" dresses, which were very step sister attire.

The film itself was enjoyable it kept true to the story of Cinderella, I was disappointed that the Fairy Godmother (Helena Bonham Carter) only said bippity boppity boo once but she was very good as the Godmother playing her usually quirky self.  The Ball scene was amazing and the blue gown was beautiful, just ignore the ridiculous waist on Cinderella.  Lily James as Cinderella is perfect she plays her brilliantly and you feel for Cinderella just like you did in the animated version.  The prince, (Richard Madden), is charming and endearing not bad to look at, bulges and all!
The film is long and I would advice that this is a film for older children or go with your girlfriends or drag along hubby or boyfriend, tell him he'll see decent cleavage, that will get him to go.  For my happy ever after I'd give this film a 8/10.

oh and little note if your bringing any Frozen fans there's a new little short before the main Cinderella film, it's very good!

Personalised Tote bag - Miibag

Look at my amazing new bag . . .

This fab bag is from Miibag done by the extremely talented Anne who is a pleasure to deal with, professional and her product is one of kind and individual to the person.
You can order different sizes and colour bags and through messages to Anne you communicate what you would like on your bag and any little details or features the caricature may have.

Anne's inspiration for Miibag was her niece Katelynn, who is an amazing 5 year old little girl with Autism. Katelynn is obsessed with seeing her name in places and Anne wanted to get her a personalised tote bag, having looked around and not seeing any that she would recognise,  Anne decided to do her own bag for Katelyn and hers was the first bag created.  Anne by profession is an artist and already has a thriving business  Funny Faces Face Painting so the transition wasn't all to difficult and Katelyn adored her Miibag.  Anne got such pleasure from doing the bag and seeing Katelynn's delight at seeing it that she decided she was going to do a few more....and that's where it all began!

Meduim bag - 30x30x20 - € 25 plus p&p
Large bag - 36x39x20 - €30 plus p&p
There is new lines been added all the time so keep an eye on the page

The quality of the bags is very good and it's difficult to see in the pictures but there's lost of lovely glitter on the picture and it doesn't come off .  The only down side is the wait time is 2-3 weeks but you have to remember these are hand drawn and painted to your specification, my advice would be if your ordering for an occasion or a gift order in good time.  There is alot of companies to there doing these bags and I looked around and spoke to many of them but when I came across Miibag and Anne I just loved her art work and the personal touch.

Now I am of to the shops with my new bag!

Eczema - The Nasty Itchies & The Miracle Cream

My two babas have suffered with eczema "the itchies" as we call it and you'd often here them ask for their cream when their in pain.  It's awful to see them in such pain my son was born with Eczema it looked like heat rash from his face all the way down to his groin.  My little girl didn't get Eczema till she was 13 months old, a reaction to goats milk triggered it.  There would be a family history of eczema, psoriasis and asthma and often then can go hand in hand as a combined condition.
I tried every cream for my little boy and listened to all the "advice" that was given to me, omitting foods etc didn't work for him.   He got it mostly in all the usual typical eczema places; creases of the body, but worst was when he got it on his face, around his eyes.  Thankfully I have a great GP and when I said I wasn't putting steroid creams on his eyes he gave me a great cream "protopic" which I can put on Little red head and not worry that I'm thinning his skin.
Little red head is lucky on the grand scheme of things his eczema is pretty under control, when he gets a flare up we put his cream on and he's pretty ok after a day or two.  The changes in weather would be a major factor in effecting his eczema and he will have this condition for life, as it is a myth you can't be cured from eczema it can clear up but you can get flare ups at any stage in your life.  Mini miss hasn't been so lucky and she battles every day with her skin. . .

Poor Mini miss gets Infected Eczema, the pictures above where her skin when she first got Eczema over a year ago, the only thing that would clear it was steroid creams we would go through tubes of the stuff and tub loads of silcocks base trying to keep her moisturised.  We were going on a sun holiday and heeding the many myths that come with Eczema I thought brilliant her skin is going to clear up; my goodness did she put in a hell of a week as did we her. skin got so bad the flare up was awful I couldn't wait to get home.

You can see from the pictures the poor pet is covered she was in agony, and as her mammy it was so hard to watch and I just wanted to take the pain away for her but nothing we seemed to give her would work.  The picture of the creams is just a sample of what we tried with the help of our GP and while these creams would work while we used them once we got down to the hydrocortisyl cream you would see the Eczema staring to get bad again.
Like Little red head, Mini miss was send for blood test and she to came back that she wasn't allergic to anything, which I find very difficult to understand.   LRH is allergic to raw eggs he comes out in an imieiate rash and Mini miss is allergice to some agent we haven't yet pinpointed but it's in ready made sauces and she to comes out in an emitiate rash.  It's important to note that the allergy test done in the peds section that my children go is a marker allergy test so it's a base line, unless the allergy is extremely high it wouldn't show up.
I was at such a lose and Mini miss was struggling her skin was so bad she had being to the dermatology specialist they had prescribed the antihistamine, (in picture), to help her sleep, as Mini miss often itches herself in her sleep, and then wakes herself up and then she cant get back to sleep with the pain.
But all wasn't lost a very good friend said to me check out an article on this product Bioskin Junior the lady who wrote the article had done all the same things as myself. tried all the products on the market nothing worked and she didn't know what to try next.  As I read the article there was a little part of me that went. 'oh will I bother it's probably no good, like all the rest', but I researched the company the ingredients and I was impressed and at the time the only place I could get them was on their online store Bioskin online store.

I seriously no joking was like a kid in a candy store when the products arrived, delivery was quick and it's free once it's over €35.  What I really attracted me to the product was that they had an outbreak cream and then a daily spray, there's also a shampoo and bath milk.  But it was Mini misses outbreaks I needed to get under control with out using the long line of steroid creams  Then once I got the outbreaks controlled maintain and her skin to a manageable and pain free state a cream to maintain it's stability, Bioskin did exactly that I was amazed remember there is NO STEROIDS in this cream.
I used the outbreak rescue cream for a month and half and then I started using the spray and the outbreak alternatively so outbreak morning and night and spray during the day.  The daily cream is in spray format I honestly when I seen it in a spray bottle I thought 'great this will not last a week', but a 250ml bottle lasted 3 mouths and we'd use this twice a day on a 1-2 year old, so that is amazing value.  The shampoo is lovely and washes the hair and makes it lovely and soft, but as regards Eczema I cant comment neither of my two have it in their hair.  LRH has cradle cap which is gone weather that is down to the shampoo I don't know.  I got the milk given as a free sample when I ordered a second time from the company and it's nice to use in the bath as my two don't get to know what it's like to have nice fun bath water for obvious reasons so it was nice to use, but I haven't bought it again as I feel the creams and shampoo are enough.  Mini miss still gets flair ups and we still make regular trips back to the GP to discuss treatment, and there is times where we have to go back to the steroid cream for a very short time.  Mini miss skin has never gone back to the condition you see in the pictures and I put the consistent good state of Mini miss skin down to BioSkin Junior.

My Mini miss would be in bits if I hadn't started using this cream it is an amazing cream and I know if  your reading this going yes sure like all the other creams, no honestly I did think the same it was the fact they have the outbreak cream and the daily spray that makes the difference.

*this review is all my own and i am not been paid by the company promote the product, i'm just a blogging mammy who wanted to share a product that worked for me.
*I am not a GP pf any type and please seek medical advice regrading any questions you may have regarding Eczema
